The Nantucket Lightship WLV612 has important historic significance as a marine icon, since she was not only the very last of the 167 lightships that served America, but also the only lightship in history to have welcomed the world to America. Having served as both the last "SAN FRANCISCO" Lightship and the "NANTUCKET" Lightship, she is known for generations as America's "Beacon of Hope".
