Overview
WINE & ROSES is hull #4 of the Legacy 42 Sedan / Express series built by Freedom Yachts of Middletown Rhode Island. She was custom ordered and outfitted by her highly experienced current owner for long range efficient cruising which he and his wife have enjoyed for five years. They have now retired in Florida and have brought the boat here to be sold immediately. WINE & ROSES is offered fully found including a hard bottom inflatable dinghy with outboard. The Legacy 42 Sedan with a single 660 h.p. Cummins diesel offers outstanding efficiency and range as well as speeds up to 24 knots when needed. Her Mark Ellis designed planning hull rises to plane at approximately 12 knots and can cruise in the low teens at a running angle that affords good sight lines for the helmsman. Stabilized by her hard chines the hull is not given to the roll that many trawlers suffer from. Her keel gives the boat great tracking and the added benefit of prop protection.Typical of her traditional Down East New England heritage the Legacy 42 mixes a beautiful sheerline with a gently crowned cabin top forward wide side decks and high protective windows for outstanding visibility. Where the legacy 42 differs from its competitors is the shape below the waterline. The shape begins at the stem with a sharp V angle entry supplemented by integrated spray rails. The rails develop into wide chine flats aft that add excellent lateral stability. The bottom on each side of centerline flattens to a deadrise of 25 degrees amidships and finishes with an 18 degree deadrise at the transom. The generous and easily accessible engine room is insulated from noise and vibration intrusion into the cabin using Soundown Insulation a sound dampening shield vibration absorbing machinery mounts and a heavy duty muffler. In addition exhaust is vented underwater for a fume free quiet ride.
Vessel Walkthrough
The salon is entered from the generous cockpit through a sliding door centerline. There are port and starboard twin settees covered in beige ultraleather on both sides of the salon. Beautiful satin finished cherry wood joinery is complimented by a varnished teak and holly sole throughout. There is abundant natural lighting and ventilation with large sliding windows with screens and overhead hatches. Forward of the settees to starboard is a double width Stidd Admiral Helm seat mounted on a cherry wood cabinet housing a small refrigerator. To port is a companion Stidd Admiral seat on a pedestal facing a built-in chart table. The helm station is to starboard with a sliding door to the side deck. The helmsman enjoys 360 degree visibility.Down three steps to port is the extremely functional galley with ample storage lockers drawers and Corian counters. There is a two- burner LPG stove with oven double stainless steel sink microwave and under counter Tundra AC/DC refrigerator/freezer. The galley is open overhead to the salon which provides light and airiness. Across from the galley to starboard is an L shape settee and cherry wood table with folding leaves. The table can also be moved and mounted in the salon. The settee can be converted to a double berth with privacy curtain. There are two storage lockers separated by built-in book shelves above the settee. There is a Toshiba LCD flat screen TV with DVD player mounted on the bulkhead forward of the settee.Continuing forward to port is the head with stall shower which can be entered from the companionway or from the master stateroom forward. There is a Sealand Vacuflush fresh water head vanity with mirror stainless steel sink and Corian countertop stall shower with curtain and Grohe fixtures. The master stateroom is all the way forward and features a centerline queen berth with storage drawers beneath.. There are port and starboard cedar lined hanging lockers as well as four storage lockers on either side of the berth overhead.

Construction Details
The Legacy 42 is built using all vinylester resins uni- and bi-directional fiberglass and Core-Cell coring. Thru hull fittings are bronze imbedded in solid glass. The hull is fabricated using resin infusion techniques that create a reliably uniform level of resin penetration for a strong hull that is as lightweight as possible. There are longitudinal and transverse stringers made of high density foam encased in biaxial knitted fiberglass as well as four structural bulkheads that give the Legacy 42 strength without excess weight. Even the teak & holly cabin sole is laid on a fiberglass grid for rigid lightweight support. The house and deck are finished in oyster white gelcoat. The hull is flag blue gelcoat with red bottom paint.
