Despite that, "Renaissance", with her significant improvements, still looks and functions as if she was recently commissioned.Bought new in 1990, her owner used her as a knowledgeable sailor would, cruising Cape Cod and the Islands in style and comfort.ACCOMMODATIONSFounded in 1969 in Hollywood, California by Frank Butler, Catalina Yachts sloop-rigged sailboats are known for large, comfortable living spaces below. In her private forward stateroom, this C-36 has an extra large V-berth with plenty of storage lockers and bins. The head compartment is aft of the V-berth to port, and includes a marine toilet, sink w/vanity and shower w/seat. A hanging locker opposes the head. Definitive of many Catalina designs, the main salon has a roomy U-shaped dinette to port which converts to a double berth. Opposite to starboard sits a second dinette with cocktail table and fore and aft facing seats. The navigation station is also to starboard, followed by a private aft cabin with a double berth. The galley is opposite the nav station. "Renaissance" was originally purchased (1990) with $8,000 in factory options, including the 4-cylinder Universal diesel. From the start, it was and still is the owners intent and desire to retain as close to her original condition as possible. That means many upgrades and improvements (approx $15,000, most within last 3 years - see below).
With the exception of the teak sole below and the Adler Barbour refrigeration, this C-36 is in as original condition as one will find anywhere. Naturally time requires some replacement and restoration noted here.
